Stop littering with your cat’s litter

Did you know:

  • A single cat can contribute over 400 pounds or 200kg of litter to landfills each year?
  • A large portion of that litter comes from popular clay and crystal litters, which are not only mined from the earth, but won’t break down in landfill.
  • Crystal litter produces 39% more CO2 than plant-based litter and ‘natural’ clay litter is strip-mined from the earth, destroying natural habitats.
  • There are an estimated 94.2 million pet cats owned in America alone as of 2019. This means cats are contributing to more than 37 billion pounds of litter which won’t decompose into landfills each year.

Rufus & Coco is committed to creating a world where we don’t have to destroy the earth for the sake of a cat’s toilet.

“We’re constantly striving to introduce new and natural solutions for pet parents, improving on what is available.
People are concerned with the amount of waste their pets contribute – a problem we are passionate about solving.

We hope that with greater accessibility and awareness, together we can reduce the impact of litter ending up in landfill.”

— Anneke van den Broek - founder and CEO of Rufus & Coco
